Have you been amazed today?

This is seriously one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. 3 cheetahs taking down an ostrich. Yeah. You read me. It starts at about 4:25 .. if you click play it should start at the right place.

Ostriches are way bigger than I thought. I mean I knew they are big, but not that big.

I mean come ON

Stevie Ray Vaughn was the first blues player that really caught my attention. BB never really piqued my interest but I recognize his talent and this video with the two of them is pretty awesome.

Here’s some SRV for good measure.

*sigh*

it makes me want to quit or lock myself in a room and not come out until I can do that.

Curse you, internet!

I was planning on doing something like this

Zadi and Steve’s Infinite Playlist.

Since I just recovered a bunch of music off an old hard drive I thought was corrupted.

I don’t have all the physical copies because much of my music was stolen (twice) so I lost a lot of the original copies and artwork.

Whatever internet-people-who-are-cooler-than-me-and-better-at-blogging-about-things … I’m still going to do this.

Upcoming entries:

Craig’s Brother - Homecoming

Tell All Your Friends - Taking Back Sunday

A collection of crappy punk/hardcore bands I liked in high school/early college.

Whatever and Ever Amen - Ben Folds Five

The Foo Fighters - Pretty much a synopsis of their career arc in my opinion. From awesome to terrible in 15 years!

stay tuned? can we still say that?

oh wait

stay rss’ed!

yes. I have accomplished it.

Wonders never cease.

Christopher Hitchens and I agree on believing in the resurrection … sort of … (via Noel, he gave me some link love, I should probably return the favor, right?)

Christopher Hitchens on the Atonement | The Blind Beggar

I would say that if you don’t believe that Jesus of Nazareth was the Christ and Messiah, and that he rose again from the dead and by his sacrifice our sins are forgiven, you’re really not in any meaningful sense a Christian.

- Christopher Hitchens

Huh. Never thought I’d see the day.

Shakespeare’s “Who’s on First”

The Avetts on Austin City Limits - Review

Finally got around to watching The Avett Brothers performance on ACL.

I thought it started great, but when they played Slight Figure of Speech, it went from awesome to terrible really quickly. They absolutely murdered “Die Die Die” (no pun intended). It sounded like a couple of college guys covering it for a battle of the bands. And the song they chose to end it with just wasn’t right. Of all the incredible songs they have they couldn’t have picked a different one?

I realize they only had half an hour but that’s all the more reason to really show your skills as musicians and song writers. It’s clear after seeing them play on a few different TV shows that their amazing live energy just doesn’t translate well to television. Probably for the simple reason you don’t notice a lot of the mistakes and crappy sound it creates when everyone is singing along and you’re excited just to be there.

Whatever. I hope other people disagree with me and listen to the Avett Brothers because of Austin City Limits. Lord knows they are just the best.

Yes please!

Southland is incredible.

Need more evidence that NBC is run by people who are intentionally mentally deficient? Watch Southland.

Ok. Watched a couple episodes? Heck, you watched the first episode? Yeah. It’s effing incredible. AND THEY CANCELLED IT.

And why did they cancel it? Because they needed to make room for Mr. Jay Leno.

Whatever.

TNT picked it up and season 2 starts soon. Hopefully the show continues or they get to put an ending on it somehow.

I’m not articulate enough to describe exactly what it is about the show that makes it awesome. It’s got three of my favorite people in it. Skitch from “That Thing You Do”, Bull from “Band of Brothers” and Ryan from “The OC” (yeah, yeah, don’t judge me, it was fun for the first season and a half … after that it went downhill).

Anyway, if you are like me and you somehow missed Southland when it was on NBC, get the first season and consume it right now. It is just fantastic.

Your eternal friend,
Sean

1 guess who wins.

Takes a a minute to get to the good part and by “good” I mean “bad, but exciting.”
